Ok, I finally found what was happening... It was Samba-related.
In "smb.conf", you have to set the following directive:
use client driver = no
...Always take care of config file default values.... :-(
By the way, I updated the "Cups" and "Samba" sections of
http://linux-vserver.org/ProblematicPrograms and
http://linux-vserver.org/WorkingPrograms . I too added it to my wiki's
