Hi Folks,
first of all Happy X-Mas to everyone :)
I want to use vServer for creating a flexible Hosting environment.
I have 3 maschines, the two primay ones are P4 Hyperthreading, the
test/backup maschine is a Athlon XP. Every customer runs his own LAMP on
Gentoo inside a vServer.
I now want to move around these vServer between the maschines - main
load is on the P4, the AMD sould take over in case of maintenance,
testing or high loads.
As Gentoo gives the possibility to set gcc optimizations, I want to use
them, but what can I use without making it impossible to run the code on
the AMD ? As the stuff is running 99% of the time on the P4, I can
accept a little performance impact when running on the AMD, so I tought
of using "mcpu=pentium4"
Or is there any "better" setting that is compatible with Athlon XP and P4 ?
reagrds
Oliver
