This list software seems to have problems dealing with digital signatures.
I tracked this down to being the mailing list footer. The mailinglist
software wants to add the standard footer, however a digitally signed
message cannot be altered, or it will appear with a security alert. To
get round this it seems the footer is added as an attachment,
A few people on the PIC list report that they receieve emails which are
signed, with the body blank and the whole email as an attachment. Many
of them use spam policies which would delete this type of message.
I think this issue needs to be addressed, digital signing is becoming
more widely used. I would think especially in the field of opensource,
server admin etc, more people apperciate what a problem spam is posing
to the internet, and that at least signing your emails does verify that
the email is from a verified sender, so cannot be mistaken for junk.
Is this issue resolvable by updating or patching the list software?
Justin.
Note, I didn't sign this message so I hope more people will find it
readable.
