Tried several different iterations/variations all ending up with a
kernel oops/panic/whatever.
Did a new install of CentOS 5.0, tried some slimming down then went for
the new kernel. Semi-worked. Had to reinstall several packages to get
mkinitrd to install.
I have, what appears to be, a working Linux-Vserver host. I'm chasing
down a few tuits so I can build some guests and see how badly I broke
stuff by slimming down the install.
Already missing vim so that is on the top of the list.

My bad. CentOS 5.6!
Thanks for your help.
