Seconded Gentoo is LFS plus a bunch of recipes to do all the hard work
(also works very nicely with vserver). Can't see why you would use LFS
when you had the option of gentoo?

Just another option, but many geeks seem to like Arch? Never tried it
myself, but it obviously has many attractive features?
