host and guest distro are completely independant, you
can install a fedora guest on a debian host, or a debian
guest on a centos host, you can even install 32bit
distros on 64bit host systems (as long as the 32bit
emulation is enabled in the kernel)

of course, certain install methods require additional
tools (e.g. fedora or centos requires rpm/yum to install
from network) but once the actual guest has been created,
it doesn't depend on the host (distribution) or hardware
