today we fixed a nasty bug which went almost undiscovered
for quite a long time now, mainly because it isn't really
easy to trigger ... nevertheless, as the bug affects all
branches (stable vs2.2 and devel vs2.3) and architectures
we updated all of them with a fixed version (vs2.2.0.4 and
vs2.3.0.26) for kernels (2.6.20.20, 2.6.21.7 and 2.6.22.9)
credit for discovering that bug goes to Arkadiusz Miskiewicz
(aka. arekm on IRC) who detected the issue on his 8way
x86_64 machine :)
there is no immediate need to update older kernels, but
it is suggested to do so on the next regularily scheduled
maintenance.
distribution maintainers should contact us on the IRC
channel for distro specific patches ...
