I really doubt that, unless you created them by coping
the host installation into the guest ...
please provide some details about the system and tools,
e.g. http://vserver.13thfloor.at/Stuff/SCRIPT/testme.sh
and how you created them ...

out of the blue, I'd suspect that the password inside
the guests is actually unset (empty) and thus the
guest allows for any arbitrary password, including the
current host password ... if that is the case here,
then yes, your changed password will work too, but no
they will not continue to have the same password as
they actually never did ...
