Hi, I'm replying to all that helped in this message.
After posting, as always, I found the documentation for the maximum
length of the interface names that Herbert refers to below. I had already
`experimentally' determined that the names were in fact different,
even if ifconfig truncates them when displaying.
I decided use shorter vserver names, because some tools I need do use
ifconfig, and it wouldn't be practical for me to change them.
