Hi ,
I installed Ganglia monitoring tool on vserver-0.29. I have configured gmond to use 224.0.0.9 as the multicast address for sending/receiving the monitoring data. When I start the gmond daemon on the vserver, it fails because the multicast addr 224.0.0.9 is not recognized on vserver as a valid addr. My vserver configuration is as following:
IPROOTDEV="eth0"
IPROOT="128.125.15.50'
ONBOOT="yes"
S_DOMAINNAME="none"
S_HOSTNAME="pce-01.usc.edu"
S_FLAGS=fakeinit
S_CAPS="CAP_SYS_ADMIN CAP_SYS_RESOURCE CAP_NET_ADMIN CAP_NET_BROADCAST"
the error i am getting from gmond is:
g_mcast_socket_bind() error: Cannot assign requested address
g_mcast_in() failed: Cannot assign requested address
I was wondering if I am missing something in the vserver configuration that will prevent the multicast addr to be recognized as a valid IP addr to bind to? I checked the interface configuration, it's enabled for multicasting. I would really appreciate any insight you could provide, thanks!
