I don't use suse, but I believe that they use rpms like redhat, right? If
so, then you can take the kernel src rpm and install it. This will put the
standard kernel plus lots of patches in (on a redhat system, ymmv)
/usr/src/redhat/SOURCES/. So if you already have the suse cds, look for the
kernel src rpm and do rpm -i ... on it.

Well it was there and downloading about 30 MB with an analogue modem at home
is quite tedious...
It sounds as if I'd rather follow the advices and try it with a
kernel.org...
